Sunday started out pretty normal. We had stayed up late the night before watching NCAA March Madness. So, when I got up at 7, I pretty much saw it coming that Nick probably wasn't going to make it up for church. I even mentioned this to my sister. I was right! About 20 minutes later, we received a phone call from Nick's mom saying Nick's grandpa wasn't doing well. He's been having some health issues for a while now, and things seem to be getting progressively worse. Nick and I had a chat and decided we'd head to Illinois for spring break and forgo the trip to Phoenix. Within three hours, we had done a load of laundry and packed up the car for our trip back to Illinois.
Sunday got kind of crazy, but we couldn't forget Wrigley's 4th birthday. We stopped for dinner about 830 pm somewhere in Nebraska (about 200 farms in or so?) and had some Arby's. Usually we make the dogs a cake for their birthday, but Wrigley got a special treat: a jr. roast beef! He loved it, and was very happy to share a small portion with his brother Rusty and sister Sophie.
A good day in all, and spring break will be nice because we get to see family and friends we hadn't thought we'd see until July!
