For Some Reason

When we are on vacation, I do a terrible job blogging. You would think that I would have more to write about, but for some reason, it doesn't happen that way.Natalie's dad, Big Ron, works at a tire store. Today he had a Subaru in the shop, and a guy walked in and said, "that's the first Subaru I've seen without a bike or a kayak on top." Needless to say, her dad got quite a kick out of that one. But come to think of it, you almost never see them w/out some kind of rack system or outdoor gear on top of them. Just another great thing about the Soobi!

Also, this article on Breastfeeding was in the Vail Daily today. So PROUD of my wife for her tenacity in breastfeeding Cayle for his first year!!! Only 43% of mothers are still breastfeeding at 6 months, and only 22% of all mothers are still doing so at 1 year! Natalie has made it 9+ months so far, with no plans of stopping until at least 12 months! She has done such an amazing job with it! It was really a struggle for the first couple of weeks, and fairly frustrating when Cayle acted uninterested in it. Then when she had to start working again, taking the time to pump twice a day, even though it meant giving up planning time. It has been a lot of hard work and time, but we have one very happy and healthy baby to show for it!

We are in Scottsdale

It's been nice so far. Our house is so nice! It's very cozy! The sun has finally started coming out the past couple of days, and it has been really nice sitting out by the pool. Cayle has enjoyed getting to play with g-ma and g-pa. Even though the pool is heated to about 60 degrees, it's still a little cool for swimming. We got in today after a hard bike ride, to kind of "ice" the legs for recovery purposes. I dove in, and it was fairly cold to say the least. Natalie has been making amazing dinners each night. She went shopping today with my mom to find Cayle and outfit for the wedding we have coming up. On the agenda for tonight: Illini @ Ohio State, and I'm sure more good food! I'll try to get some pics up soon.

Leadville

Today I had to head to Leadville for a training that I missed in Eagle. We don't head up that way very often, but it's a beautiful drive (and bike ride) and a beautiful area. As I was driving today, I realized that we have never driven up there in the winter time. The road from Minturn to Leadville which is about 50 miles or so is almost entirely covered with a thin layer of snow. Lots of gravel on top of that snow... I got a chip in the windshield, that by the time I got back to Gypsum had spread about 10 inches... :-( Mt. Massive and Mt. Elbert for some reason looked so much more imposing when they are covered with snow! They are monstrous! It was a clear, cold and sunny day, and the mountains and surrounding forests looked very pristine with all the fresh snow up there.

Pics from the Superbowl Party

Cayle got to play with his buddy Macklin during the Superbowl. He enjoyed his time with Mack!

Natalie relaxing a bit with her favorite Doritos in the reading chair before people showed up to watch the big game!

Friends

Took Cayle out to eat tonight with friends (J, and T&A). This was his 2nd time eating in a big boy high chair at a restaurant. He is doing such a good job sitting at the table with everyone! He went out to Pizza Hut earlier this week with us, and tonight it was for Mexican. It's so much fun watching him grow up. He's getting to be such a big boy!

Cayle Crawling and Jumping

Cayle's first crawl on video camera. He is not very sure of himself yet, but he is getting the hang of it, and I bet he will be moving much more pretty quickly...

Jumping in his jumper. He has been going crazy in this thing lately. It's so funny watching him jump and laugh!
