Ktrak

This is pretty cool! It was built for downhill bikes as you can tell from the pic, but has recently been upgraded to include x-country bikes as well. I wouldn't mind trying it out, but probably not going to pay $550 for one anytime soon... :-) And they don't have a 29'er version out yet... :-(

Reminiscing

Rusty always loved to lay in the Windowsill in our old house! We always worried about him falling out, but he loved to sleep there in the summer time.
We still have this chair, and it's still the same size....Rusty is not....

Rusty is sooo much smaller than Wrigley!
Puppy Rusty choosing to be a Cardinals fan at such a young age...
This one was more about how young, my youngest brother looks...He's grown a ton!
Wrigley getting his puppy pictures...
He was so tiny!
Wrigley always did prefer mommy! He's definitely a mommas boy!

Snow!

It finally snowed up here in the mountains.... although it was only about an inch and had melted shortly afternoon.... It's crazy that it's the middle of January and we still don't have any snow! It has been in the 40's every day, and has been great for bike riding and running, not so great for snow activities. The craziest thing is that just 25 minutes east in Vail, it has snowed 28" in the past 48 hours... The snow is so spotty out here... 29" in Breck two days ago... 26" in one 24 hour period. It has been dumping on the resorts, and we can see it all around us, yet here in Eagle and Gypsum, 40 degrees and no snow. Weird Winter Weather. I'm sure we'll get it eventually.

Brothers

Last week, I got the chance to hang out with my youngest brother Michael for an entire week. I can't tell you the last time we got to spend that much time together. I wasn't around much while he was growing up, college, work, Colorado, you know, life basically. But now he is in college at the U of I, and has a few more breaks, so he was able to come out with Anne Marie and Mom for a week of just chillin... (and sleeping) It was awesome to get to spend some time with him! We went snowshoeing, for a few runs, and shared some good meals. The pic below is of him CONCENTRATING while trying to beat me in shuffleboard... which he succeeded in doing once of 3 times.
In a span of 2 weeks, Natalie and I both got to hang out with our youngest brothers. Hers is a bit younger than mine, still being in high school. It was a great opportunity for both of us! We are both blessed to have such great families and siblings!

111111111

9 1's - At 11:11 this morning we will have 11:11 1/11/11.... That's a heck of a lot of 1's! Not sure if you're superstitious or not, but may be a good time to make a wish or something. I am not really into those things, but still think it's really cool to have that many 1's line up all together.

Snowshoeing with mom, Michael, Anne Marie, and Cayle

On Friday before Anne Marie left to visit her friend in Denver, we were able to get out for a couple hour snowshoe on my favorite trail up Valley Road in Gypsum. It was a beautiful day, around 45 degrees and sunny, and everyone was over dressed! The snow was fantastic and so wonderful! Cayle slept the whole time in his Chariot. Good exercise and fun had by all! It's fun showing the family what fun things we do out here!

12th Day of Christmas

This is one of the main reasons I love living in a small town. The traditions that you get, and hanging out at the park and seeing people that you know. I blogged about this before, but this time my mother, and brother, and sister were in town.
Cayle is having trouble taking his eyes off the big fire behind us! He seemed to really enjoy it!

Mommy enjoying hanging at the park with her baby boy... Now over 7 months old!

Lots of Family Time

10 days in Illinois, first with my Fam in Ttown, then with Natalie's fam in Peru. In case that wasn't enough, we brought Natalie's brothers back to Colorado with us in the car for a week of exploring Colorado. We had lots of exciting adventures, such as, snowshoeing, hiking in the snow, and getting pizza and berry smoothies from the CostCo food court! We dropped Patrick and Reo off at DIA on Friday.

Then we had 2 days to ourselves before my mom and brother and sister came in. Just enough time to regroup, clean house, and reorganize things a bit. Now my family is here for a week. I guess we'll see what kind of adventures lay in store as the week progresses, but we started off the first evening with Cayle getting weighed at the doctor (gained a lb in the last month), a 3 mile run, and a couple rounds of Banana Grams before calling it a night.

New Years Resolutions and Fitness Centers

Fitness Centers have to LOVE New Years!!! I went to the gym today, Sunday afternoon about 330, and it was packed! Way too many people for a Sunday afternoon. I love seeing more people getting serious about their health, and trying to do something about it, but you gotta love the people walking around looking at machines, and trying to figure out which ones to use, and how to use them.... :-) I was that person a long time ago! I'm sure most of us have been at one time or another.

Coming soon... My cycling 2010 recap, and 2011 goals, as well as the top moments of 2010

1st day of the year

I like to get out for a bike ride on the first day of the year. It just sets a good tone to the year, a good way to start. This has been an annual occurrence for the last 3-4 years at least, I may have missed a year, but I try to make it an annual tradition. This ride has taken many different forms over the years. The first one was while we were living in Springfield, and I rode from Springfield to Pana where I met dad, and together we rode to Teutopolis. I finished that day with close to 100 miles. Last year I rode with Torrey, we rode Mt. Bikes on a snow covered dirt road. It was a nice sunny day and we climbed for about an hour before having a couple of drinks on his porch afterward. Unfortunately today the temp was hovering around 5 degrees, with a -15 degree windchill, and 25-30 mph winds. It felt pretty nice sitting in the nice warm house while watching the swirling snow outside the window. I finally worked up the motivation around 5:00 pm, and put on a bunch of clothes. A long sleeve base layer, North Face vest, The Cycling House wind jacket, and my puffy REI Down Jacket - jogging pants, with casual street shoes, - face mask with snowboarding helmet and goggles, - and lobster claw gloves. I was all decked out for a short 20 minute ride through town. Since there was snow and ice on the road I hopped on the NINER for the jaunt through town. By the time I got done I had rode for 20 minutes, 3.5 miles, and my fingers were getting cold, but at least I had gotten a short ride in on New Years Day. :-)
