Was I ever this flexible???

No idea how you fall asleep like this...

Nick says he found her like this 2 days in a row! Geez, not how I like to relax :)

Not a Word...

Cayle likes to hear about his options. Sometimes, however, he doesn't like the options that are presented to him. He then takes the opportunity to inform us something will not happen. Except he uses a word that doesn't exist. No matter how many times we tell him it's not a word, he continues to use it.

Example:

Mom: Cayle, after dinner you can play for a little bit, then brush your teeth and get ready for bed. Or you can go have a bath and get ready for bed.  Then we will read a book.

Cayle: No, mom, that willn't happen!!!!

Mom:  Ummm, willn't is not a word. You say will not. And these are your options so one of those will happen.

Cayle: No, it willn't!!! Those are not the options!!!

Lol. Hilarious. I love trying to be logical with him!

It's Cold!

So, lately it's been really cold here. Abnormally cold. Multiple days with negative wind chills, days with highs in the single digits, and strong (25-35 mph) winds out of the North. Which makes for some pretty chilly walks to/from school. And some days I have been unwilling to walk to/from school :)

Anyway, what's driving me crazy is people at school who say, "oh, you're probably used to this!" Because although it is true, it doesn't make it any less cold. I'm still cold when I go outside and it's 5 degrees!

Although tomorrow looks better, Monday and Tuesday do not!

A Date

Cayle and I have been going on weekly dates. We leave as soon as we get up on Saturday morning (today that was at 630 am...) and we go out for breakfast. Either at Niemerg's or Denny's. One of Cayle's favorite things to do while we wait for our food is to organize the jellies and creamers. After breakfast, we head out for groceries. Today we were home by 830 am. We make pretty good time. He's definitely mommy's little helper :)

The sky...

We are making good progress on the puzzle. We have been doing a section at a time. Go thru all the pieces, pick out the ones that match the colors, put all the rest away. Up till the sky we've been able to finish each section we started. Until the sky... We knew the trees and the sky would be the toughest! It's coming together, it just doesn't happen very quickly. The challenge is so much fun though! It's easy to forget how much it stimulates your mind.

The Problem Is...

This is one of the kicks that Cayle has been on lately. It's pretty hilarious! When he gets upset about something, or doesn't like the way something is happening, he will say, "well, the problem is..."

One of the most recent examples included playing basketball in the house. He loves to play basketball and spends large amounts of time each day shooting hoops. It's one of his favorite things at the moment. So a few days ago, he had been playing for an hour or so and then he was starting to get a little wild. When he had an off shot that hit some toys behind the hoop Natalie instructed him to put the basketball away, that he was done for a bit. He didn't care for that, but listened and went to his room and shut his door. He pouted for a bit, like 2-3 minutes, then he came out to the living room and said, "but mom, the problem is... I just don't really want to play basketball right now." Natalie say's O, ok, that's fine, let's just relax a bit. So he goes off and plays with something else quietly.

A little bit later he comes back, and says, "well, the problem is, that I would really like to play basketball for a little bit." lol

That instance was funny to us, since basketball is his favorite thing, and he was acting like he didn't want to play when he got in trouble. But he has many "problems" throughout the day that he happily shares with anyone around him. Most common are:

"The problem is... I just don't want to eat lunch right now..."
"The problem is... I just don't want to share my toys right now..."
"The problem is... I'm just not ready to go to bed yet..."
"The problem is... I'm not ready to feed the dogs right now..."
"The problem is... I just can't do that until I have a snack..."

Problems are usually taken care of quickly and easily. It's just one of those things that makes each kid so unique.

Nasty Weather!!!

I thought we left this type of weather in Colorado... Apparently though, we move to IL and bring the worst storm in decades along with us. Blizzard type conditions, 30mph north winds, snow at a rate of 2"/hr, and negative temps with wind chills around 30 below! Even though in Colorado we still would have had school, around these parts things shut down. School is canceled for tomorrow and all roads outside of the city are closed, if you get stuck you may not be helped. It's nasty! We did get out for a short ski earlier before the cold moved in though.

Then when we got home...

While outside..,

Pics from my ride

It was such a quiet, snowy ride. Snow/ice on the ground, strong wind out of the south, and few cars made for an amazing bike ride!

Happy New Year!

2014! We rang in the new year pretty quietly. At home. I stayed up till midnight, Natalie did not, but I woke her up, then we went to bed. What old people do...

New Years Day, Cayle did some painting, I went for a nice bike ride, we had a fire going all day, kids played with all their Christmas toys.

Big changes took place in 2013 with our move from CO to the state we were born in, IL. We are still adjusting, but enjoying having family close by. We all miss seeing the mountains every day though! We will have to visit sometime soon!

2014 is also going to see some big changes as we will be adding onto our family!

We are excited for the challenges and adventures that lie ahead. Live each day to the fullest and have a fantastic 2014!
