Learning Experiences

Natalie had a super rough day at school, only spending a very brief amount of time in her classroom. The rest of the time was spent doing AD work investigating an incident from a basketball game last night. Apparently a few of the girls decided it would be a good idea to have some "cocktails" on the bus ride home, mixed with gatorade.... Not much thought (intelligent thought) anyway was put into that decision.... Made for a long day for my wife, so when we got home I told her to go out for some appetizers with a bunch of other teachers from school at The Grand Avenue Grill. I think the Italian Nachos may have helped her unwind a bit. Weather was pretty nice earlier today. About 32 and sunny, so I took Cayle out for a little bike ride. My first ride on the "new" bike. We rode the golf course, with about an inch of snow on the ground from last night. I had my first crash of the year as well, and it happened before we were even out of the subdivision. Getting ready to turn a corner, I didn't realize that there was a sheet of ice under the snow I was riding on, and just went down, and went for a little slide... no harm done, was the least painful crash ever! Doesn't feel too bad sliding on ice. Startled myself and Cayle more than anything else. No harm done to the new bike parts though!!! Rest of the ride was great! We got first tracks on the cart path!

Another good day

We have had tons of quality family time the last couple of days! Cayle is loving his bike and his basketball hoop! Mainly just his basketball hoop!!! He has spent HOURS!!! shooting baskets the last 2 days. It was 4 degrees when we woke up this morning, and when we went to the park to play at about 2pm it was 40 degrees and sunny. It was really nice out. Cayle and I played at the park for about 15 minutes, then I put him back in the Chariot and ran another 4.5 miles. Beautiful afternoon. When we got home he shot some more baskets, ate dinner, shot some more baskets, and then went to bed. Before he went to sleep he made us promise him that he could shoot basketballs in the morning.... It's kinda crazy really... One more day of hanging out around the house before we head down to the Springs to celebrate Christmas with Natalie's family.

Bargain Hunting!!

Man!!! We (Natalie) found the bargains today! The day started out looking for a toddler bed. We finally found one that we liked that we were going to order from WalMart. Natalie's sister suggested Craigslist, which we have checked before, but found nothing. This time however was a little different. I have been browsing Craigslist and the local ads for several months now looking for a double Chariot Cougar, or someone that may want to trade a double for a single. The cheapest you can find for a double is usually around $500.00-$600.00. Which is why when Natalie said she found one in Georgetown for $300.00, I had to jump on it. It was a 2008, but in great condition! The lady I contacted said if I wanted to come pick it up, she would be in Dillon for the day, so I ended up driving to Dillon to pick up this Chariot Cougar 2. It also came with the stroller wheels, jogging wheel, and bicycle attachment and an extra hitch. This was a steal! The hitch and extra attachments costs $20-$80 new depending on which ones you buy, and the Chariot could easily have gone for double the cost, since it's in such great shape! Great find #1!!!

You can see the obvious size difference in the frame width, and the jogging wheel width. May take some getting used to in the spring/summer when we are ready to begin using it...

Great find #2 was this Toddler bed which was also on Craigslist, however this one was located in Eagle. So we went to check it out. It looks exactly like the one below. It's even white, which is what we wanted. Got the bed and mattress for 30 bucks (Would have been no less than $100.00 new from the store!) Cayle will be ready to move into a big boy bed soon! He already started sitting on the potty yesterday! We bought a little toilet seat that he sits on. He sits on it and laughs and gives me high fives! Nothing else yet... may be a while, but he has been consistent in the mornings, so we'll see I guess....

First day of the First week

Today is the first day of the first week of summer school. Meaning it is the first day that I will stay at home with Cayle in the morning while Natalie goes to work. This is how it will be during summer school, but also during the school year next year, as I have switched jobs w/in the school and will work part time afternoons. I am excited to get to spend daily time with Cayle! Yesterday we went for a family bike ride up Valley road to Leed Reservoir. It was super nice! Blue skies and great temps!

This was Cayle playing in the grass post-ride. He had a great time!
Leed Reservoir.

The scenery was so beautiful, and we had a little snack at the top. Pita chips, hummus, and wine. Cayle got some yogurt and pita chips. What a gorgeous ride and day!

Chariot Graduation

We've been talking about it for a couple of weeks now. Tonight, Cayle finally graduated from his infant sling. The infant sling is a hammock like swing that gave him a smoother ride, and was great for him to sleep in, but restricted him from looking out the side windows. Instead of sitting and looking out, he was more laying down and looking up and forward. At about 10 mos. or about 22 lbs they say they are fine to ride inside the Chariot sitting up (or when they can hold their head up if you hit a pothole.) We decided Cayle was ready to sit in the Chariot like a big boy, so he could look out the windows while we ride or walk with him. Tonight we walked to the library with Rusty to pick up a couple of books. He loved being able to watch Rusty out the window, and was talking to him while we were walking. Just another step toward growing up.

As you can see from the pictures, he enjoyed all his time snoozin in the sling under the warmth of the bunting bag!
