First Snow of 2012

 First real snow of 2012 fell on November 10th. Cayle wanted to go outside and play in it right away. Here he is touching it. Probably the first time he really realizes what he is touching. He loves it!

A Sunday Drive

 After church a few weeks ago we headed out for a Sunday drive. Not sure if we would find snow or not, but we were looking for Cayle to be able to touch it for the first time this season. We found some up high behind the house. It was an absolutely beautiful drive on a road that we have not been on before. There were actually several points where neither Natalie nor I wanted to look to the right because the drop off down to Sylvan Lake was so extreme! Not to mention we were on a hard snow packed road...

Illinois Cousins

Whenever we travel to Illinois, we try to see as many people as possible.  On Sunday, my family drove down from up north and spent the day with us at Nick's parents' house.  Mom and Dad brought Reo, Jessa, and Patrick with them.  Lindsey made the drive with Shay and Finley.  And Stephen brought Sophie and Patrick.  The kids (even the big ones) loved the gym.  It was nice to spend some time with my family :)

Where?

Where o where have the Brummer bloggers been?  O where o where have they been? 

I'm not sure really???  Trying to find sleep?  Coaching basketball?  Packing for the Thanksgiving trip to IL? 

It has been incredibly busy as of late.  Nick has basketball Monday-Thursday nights.  He brings the kids up to school and then I bring them home shortly after that if he has practice or an away game.  If he has a home game, the kids and I stay to watch a bit of the game.  Last night was a heart breaker - 3 point loss in double overtime :( 

With Nick getting home later, I typically get dinner going and the kids started on eating before daddy gets home.  We have some play time, then it's off to bed for the kids...with mommy and daddy's fingers crossed!

Lindy is doing OK through the night.  She rarely sleeps through without a peep.  Most often, she wakes up numerous times throughout the night.  Sometimes she is satisfied just by getting her paci.  And sometimes she requires rocking.  Which means Nick rocks her to sleep in the recliner and then he sleeps there with her the rest of the night.  We will certainly be glad when this phase is over :)

Last Sunday Nick and I had a chance to ski over at Keystone.  Cayle went to Zoe's house and Lindy went to Carter's house.  It was insanely quiet in the car with no kids!  And it was lots of fun to have some time together!  It was stupidly cold and very busy at the mountain, but fun to get out for a run.

   

We have been packing the last few nights and will leave after school today to head down to Denver.  We have a 645 am flight tomorrow out of Denver, in to St. Louis.  It will be Lindy's first time to fly, and Cayle's first time to have his own seat. We are really looking forward to seeing everyone, and maybe even getting in an extra nap :)

 

 

It's Dark!

I don't ever remember the end of daylight savings time affecting me like it has this year. Poor Cayle and Lindy have been passing out early the last few nights and waking early in the morning...like asleep by 7ish pm and awake by 5ish am. Nick and I are struggling to get our bodies' schedules to jive with theirs :) All this being said, now that I've stayed up until almost 945 pm MST, I should kick my butt in to bed, since morning will be here very soon!

Basketball Tourney

We had an all day basketball tourney in Eagle today. We won our first game easily. Lost the next badly, then beat our rivals, Eagle, for the first time in 3 tries, and were playing great against Summit but just ran out of steam. 4 games was too much for my team of 8. And one of my kids had played a hockey game at 7am and had another at 5pm this afternoon. The positive? We are getting so much better, so quickly! We are playing with much more energy than in previous games! We won 2 games and put ourselves in position to win another, but just fell short. Great day of middle school basketball!
