Wow!
Happy 2016! 2015 was our worst year of blogging yet. Hopefully 2016 will be much better! There were so many fun memories we missed out on blogging about. I'm going to miss going back and reminiscing about them. Not sure what the deal was, but just never happened like I wanted it to. :-(

Kindergarten
Blogging has been very difficult this year for whatever reason! It's a struggle to find motivation to take the time to write. But I know I will be upset with myself in the future if this doesn't get posted!
My how time flies! Today is the 1st day in the last 5 years that Cayle won't be staying home with me when school starts. We are super going to miss having him around, but I'm so excited for him to start Kindergarten. He's going to have so much fun!

Le Tour de Effingham County
I've been thinking for a few months now how cool it would be to do a big ride and hit every town in Effingham County, IL. I did it this morning for a total of 104 miles. It was pretty neat! Tried to get a picture of a water tower or other town landmark in each town.

Donuts
Milk Run donut shop has been one of our favorite stops. I believe I've been 4 times. The donuts are amazing! Especially the glazed Old Fashioned donuts. My fave!

Oak Creek
Had a great ride this morning through the tiny town of Oak Creek. Not much to see there... Just a sleepy little town on Colorado 131.

The Cycle Effect
The Cycle Effect is an amazing organization based out of Eagle County, Colorado that takes Jr. High and High School girls and puts them on bikes.
From their website: "It’s not about the bike” is now a common term known in cycling. At The Cycle Effect, it is about the bike. The bike teaches us stress-relief, teamwork, acceptance, healthy competition, and determination. We invite you to get involved in a truly remarkable organization. And try to keep up."
Natalie and I being school teachers in Eagle County prompted us to want to be a part of this organization. It's so important to get these girls focused on something so positive and healthy. It's really such an incredible opportunity for them!
While we were in Eagle, I got the chance to get out and ride with them for a bit during one of their practices. It was so awesome watching them all get their bikes from the trailer, lube chains, put on wheels, and get ready to go. Some seemed like seasoned pros and others you could tell were still learning, but they were all so helpful to each other. To warm up we played a little game, I'm not sure the proper name, but we were on 2 teams and had to get a little stuffed animal into a bucket in the middle of the soccer/football field. Each team had to pass the stuffed animal 3 times to a teammate before it could be dropped into the bucket. All the while the other team members were trying to steal it while not crashing. And there were some crashes, but overall, it was a great opportunity to build team skills and work on slow pace bike handling. It was so much fun! Then I got to do some 2 minute climbing intervals up the Boneyard singletrack with the girls. The whole experience was just one of the coolest things I've ever been a part of on my bike. It's so neat seeing the energy and passion displayed by these girls as they learn and perfect new skills. Much thanks to Brett Donelson for having me and for allowing my wife and I to be a part of this! If you may be interested in being a part of this, there is a place on the website that you can donate, or they are always looking for lightly used cycling gear.
